The Von Dutch bus buzz continues to rattle my statistics. Bob Burns, who has chronicled much of Dutch's life, has revealed that the bus was resold after the auction to Steve Kafka, a renowned car painter and pinstriper, who is planning a complete restoration of the bus.

More as it comes in...

[Edit]
Apparently Mr. Kafka is entrusting the bus to Alton Gillespie for restoration to "as close to it's original condition as research and memories will allow".

My email is promising some news as well, so this story is just beginning to unfold.

Reviving this nearly two year old topic.

Was poking around on the 'net, looking up some refferrer links, and found a page describing the bus' last drive and some minor restoration efforts.

Nothing more recent than December of last year. Could it be that the Von Dutch bus has fallen into the same trap as my Crown, that of no progress?

interestingly, attempts to further research this using bits of the www address or references in the article sends up a red flag for my antivirus

I looked at the source code on the two pages I linked to and there was no unusual code, pretty plain pages in fact.

Having said that, the main page of that site does have some javascript in it.

Also, for the last day or two, my computer has been locking up periodically, the CPU overwhelmed by something, running at 100%, then releasing. I can't find anything unusual in the Task Manager. Kind of put it down to the DVD-ROM flaking out.

Then this morning, one of my dial-up networking accounts lost it's "saved" password, and two others lost their dial-up phone numbers.

Something strange is afoot. I run very stringent firewall software, have most javascript disabled via Proxomitron, only surf using Opera, and NEVER use Outlook, so I ~think~ I'm pretty safe from exploits. Not visiting porn, music, video, gaming or other at-risk sites should also keep my virus profile down.

Let us know if you figure out why your AV was acting strange...

I haven't found anything unusual, but when I try something like entering the URL for the non-existant page 3 it sets off the alarms on my corporate firewall.

Something's there. It doesn't appear to be malicious but it certainly isn't helpful. It's possible that it's some sort of sand trap for hackers and you just have to poke it right to get a reaction.

Hey, my personal 'puter runs Ubuntu. I'm only forced to the $oft side when I work.

Hmm, altering the URL to request the non-existent page three does open an error document with a page frame including junky adverts from -searchportal.information.com- (hyphens added to prevent the forum software from making the link hot). Could be that the AV is objecting any number of crappy code bits in that.
