Hello, I'm new

Hi, I'm Lois and my project is the bus body only of a 1964 Ford ex-schoolbus,ex-logging company crew bus.

The last person who had it painted "Pit Stop" on the side, and that name will remain, because it's going to be my private place to take a "Pit Stop" from life and relax.

The first part of this project will involve the fabrication of a trailer hitch from the remains of the front frame. New floor after that and then I'll start working on the furnishings.

Luckily, at this time I'm also renovating the house, so anything leftover from that project will be used for the bus.

I'm not doing anything spectacular yet, though in a year or two I may install some skylights.

I've got time on my hands even when the garden is in full swing, so I'll be able to take "pit stops" to work on my project

Hi Lois and welcome to the site.. Should be a good source of info here for you.. Lots of bus folks and ideas.. At your convieniece, post some pic's of your bus so we call take a look..

Welcome to this site. This is the go-to place if you are considering doing something a little bit different from everyone else.

Do I understand you correctly that you are turning your bus into a trailer--as in taking out the power package and front clip and turning the rest into a trailer?

If that is what you are doing, and I hate to rain on your parade, but unless you have a truck at least as big as the truck under your bus you will never be able to tow it.

Even a shorty bus is going to weigh too much to be towed by any light duty truck. When I say light duty that includes any truck that has a GVWR of less than 12,000 lbs. and a GCWR of less than 20,000 lbs.

Any else notice that Lois hasn't been around again? I wonder if we scared her off? Kind of like new dogs at the dog park...as soon as a new dog comes in about 15 wet noses go right up its butt.

It's only been two days. She will probably be back. But I can certainly understand the aversion to wet noses.... we had a bull for the herd one time who thought he was a 'lap dog', so stayed way too close. And had the wettest nose and mouth that I have seen since a friends Rottweiler. Which he would put on my back while we walked around the barn and pasture. Yuck.

My bus has no power plant, front axle, or nose clip. It is meant to be a "parker" not a mover.

I'll be using it as a private get away in my back yard or as an extra guest room.

My Cobble Hill is on Vancouver Island B.C. Canada, a long way from Maine, or Cobble Hill, New York too!

When I'm not playing with my bus, I'll be out in one of my gardens, I sell eggs and veg to make extra money.

Best thing about my bus is that I'm getting it for FREE, only cost is the towing and that's about 15 miles worth.

I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
