1959 Scenicruiser for SALE!!!!!!!

I found a gem hidden at the tire exchange and just spoke to the owner!

1959 MCI 1 Scenicruiser, mid miles, bought new and family owned

$20,000.00 obo

Anybody interested, PM me for the Ph.# here. I know the guy who owns it, it was his Dad's. Also, he knows he can't skin me on a deal, or I remind of things he'd rather forget!

Got him by the short hairs, so who wants a Scenicruiser besides Dennis.???

No, more like graydawg's bus, big stacks on the back, no lift in the roof.

But I recognize the type. We had them here when we had Island Coach lines, they were in service from 1974 until the early 1990's. GREAT buses.

Had a look at that broken hinge on Mercy, might be able to fix the slider hinge,(weld) but the top "keeper" for the door is gone too, and it wants to fall backwards.

MCI did make the MC-1 Challenger in the '50's but it didn't look anything like the Scenicruiser.

The MC-1 was a 35' coach with a straight roofline.

The Scenicruiser was a 40' deck and half coach with a step roof and windshields in the step.

It wasn't until the MC-6 and MC-7 that MCI coaches had a step in the roof. By the time the MC-9 came to be they were back to a flat roofline.

Several manufacturers made coaches with split decks and roofs with steps.

The most common were made by Flxible followed by Mack, Crown, and several other small coach companies that went out of business in the '60's.

GM had the lock on the 40' coach market until MCI came out with the MC-7 in 1968.

Eagles, made by Kassborher in Germany, started to appear in the late 1950's but were exclusive to the Trailways system for many years.

Which is all to say the bus you mention may be an MCI-1 but it couldn't be a Scenicruiser.

That bus looks to be in pretty good shape.

Someone along the way has swapped the original tube type wheels for tubeless wheels. At least on the steer axle anyway.

But in today's market, unless the interior is put together like a yacht and the running gear in perfect running condition I would say the $20K price tag is about 2X of what the market is currently.

I have seen some really nice 4104's going for less than $10K.

Well he did say "or best offer" and I havent seen it up close yet. I believe it's already converted for living in, just looks dirty.Came up from California a year ago, so shouldn't be too rusty.

The Scenic Cruiser is what I always wanted having the living room on the front deck and having everything else upstairs, but found my 64 PD4106 already converted and couldn't let it pass me by, so I bought it right then, when I left the house that morning I was not planning on buying one, 'and ended up with it in my driveway anyway. After looking at the layout I am glad I ended up with a flat level bus, it makes it more spacious having the living room and kitchen sharing a common space.
