Sharkey, isn't this one like your bus, with dual rear axles? The dual rear axles would make for a very stable platform to build a big house conversion on, plus pack any extra weight if one were to get carried away with the building materials.

I have seen this bus pop up on C's-list and E-bay in the past.

It is a pretty nice bus and came out of a fleet that at one time was a 100% Crown fleet.

This bus and the others like it fell victim to the clean air nazi's in the Puget Sound area (Seattle/Tacome).

It is virtually impossible for a 2-cycle DD to pass the opacity test, particularly if it is an urban/surburban route bus. Get it out on the highway and get it warmed up properly it will blow clear. Run around at urban/suburban stop and go speeds and it will never warm up properly and never blow clear.

If the seller would get real on the price it would sell. But I think he is stuck on what he thinks it is worth as compared to what someone else would be willing to pay.

Washington State Surplus sold two of these about a year ago. They went for apx. $3200.

I wonder what type of mileage a person could expect from this engine? Say a modest 60mph cruising speed on more or less flat road, could a person hope for 10mpg??

Ten Miles per Gallon is what a Crown with a 220 Cummins gets, so the DD would be about the same, I'd guess.
